Open Structure Files

    {info} The file opening and file inserting functions are separated since version 6.2 of JChem for Excel. You can use the Insert Single Structures function on multiple structure files, but in this case, only the first structure is inserted.

    Use this function to open the following basic file types:

    • Single structure files: The structure is imported to the first column of an empty worksheet. The same file formats are supported as in the case of Import from File.

    • Multiple structure files: All the structures from the selected file are imported to the first column of an empty worksheet. The same file formats are supported as in the case of Import from File.

    • Multiple structure files with data: All the structures with corresponding are imported to an empty worksheet. The same file formats are supported as in the case of Import from File.

    Open Multiple Structure Files with or without Data

    To open multiple structure files with or without data, follow the steps below.

    1. Click the Open button on the ribbon.

    2. Select a file containing multiple structures, for example, an SDFile with or without data and click Open.

      A progress bar informs the user about the status of the open process.

    3. All the structures available in the file are displayed on a new sheet similar to the Import from File process, but the difference is that there is no selection, field editing, or filtering possibility, all structures with all corresponding data are displayed. images/download/attachments/1806076/Open_Structure_Files_ss1_s3.png

    Open Multiple Files at Once

    It is possible to open multiple files at once. To do this, follow the steps below.

    1. Click the Open button on the ribbon.

    2. Select multiple files and specify if you want to merge the files into a single worksheet or not (the checkbox is unticked by default).

    3. Click Open. A progress bar informs the user about the status of the open process.

      1. If the Merge files onto a single worksheet checkbox is not ticked, the selected files are displayed on new sheets, which are named after the files. All structures with all corresponding data are displayed on the appropriate sheet.

      2. If the Merge files onto a single worksheet checkbox is not ticked, the selected files are displayed on a single new sheet, structures and data are automatically displayed on the sheet in the order of the selected files. Data is not appended and no duplicate search is performed, the structures and data are simply displayed on the same sheet.
