Add a JChem Web Services Connection in JChem for Excel

    In the case of JChem web services, it is possible to connect to tables, views, and synonyms. Synonyms are displayed in the connection list if Options > Database Import > Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server > Show Synonyms is set to TRUE.

    To add a JChem Web Services connection, follow the steps below.

    1. Click the Import ribbon button under the Database group.

    2. Click Add Connection or right-click the Connections root node and select Add Connection from the context menu. By default, the Save Password and the Encrypt Password checkboxes are ticked.

    3. Select the JChem Web Services tab on the Manage Connections form.

    4. Enter the Connection Name.

      1. If authentication is turned off on the server, there is no need to specify the User Name and the Password.

      2. If authentication is turned on on the server, enter the User Name and the Password. In this case, set Authentication Type as described in step 6.

    5. Enter the hostname or IP address where the web service database can be found, and the name of the database.

    6. Select the authentication type. If there is no authentication on the server the default value is None. If there is authentication on the server, select HttpBasic from the drop-down menu.

    7. Click OK to save the connection.
