History of changes: New features and improvements, bug fixes

    November 3rd, 2023: JChem for Office 21.15.9

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.9 used.

    Bug Fixes

    • Marvin could not be opened in Excel if LTS Iodine was installed on a machine that previously had 23.5 installed on it

    July 3rd, 2023: JChem for Office 21.15.8

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.8 used.

    Bug Fixes

    • When the Preferences window was opened in an embedded Marvin editor, the marvin.properties file was overwritten upon pressing OK.
    • The 2D clean option for peptide sequences was not loaded into the MarvinSketch Editor. Now it is possible to set this at Options>Structure Editor>Marvin settings.
    • SSL/TLS secure channel connection could not be established to BMT endpoints.

    January 26th, 2023: JChem for Office 21.15.7

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.7 used.

    Bug Fixes

    • The Legacy structure rendering technology of JChem for Excel was broken by consecutive MS updates on Office 2021 and Microsoft 365 (Office 365) environments. A new rendering option, "Office2021/Microsoft365 compatibility" is available at the Structure Drawing > Rendering Technology section of the Options > General tab, which works properly on these faulty environments as well. The Legacy rendering is still the default, and it still works fine on all fully up-to-date Office 2013/2016/2019 environments.
    • An error message appeared upon pressing Ctrl-V multiple times when copying structures with multiple data from JChem for Excel to JChem for PowerPoint.
    • When there was no JChem for Office license key installed, an unusual message ("ChemAxon .NET API is not licensed.") appeared in Outlook. The issue didn't occur with license file and was not reproducible in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

    November 16th, 2022: JChem for Office 21.15.6

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.6 used.

    September 14th, 2022: JChem for Office 21.15.5

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.5 used.

    Bug Fix

    • In some special ring systems the SAR table generator could not aggregate a few RGroup fragments which were exact matches to each other

    June 27th, 2022: JChem for Office 21.15.4

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.4 used.

    May 17th, 2022: JChem for Office 21.15.3

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.3 used.

    Bug Fixes

    • A previous bugfix for license installation has been extended to folders not only locally on the computer but at the OneDrive as well. (The bugfix was: "There was an error in license installation: if the number of lic.log files exceeded 99, it was not possible to install the license file.")
    • When selecting ChemDraw 19 and 20 as structure editor, the ChemDraw dialog was not open properly. This happened when opening it with double-clicking in Import from DB Query dialog and double-clicking on the structure in imported tables.
    • Installation of JChem for Office Lite has been fixed, since the installation stopped during checking the version of the operation system.

    January 19th, 2022: JChem for Office 21.15.2

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.2 used.

    Improvements

    • The speed of exporting SDFiles from JChem for Excel sheets has been improved 10fold.

    Bug Fix

    • Although JChem for Office was not affected by log4j and log4Shell vulnerability issues, for avoiding potential threats similar to these, the requested .NET framework version has been updated to 4.6.2.

    November 11th, 2021: JChem for Office 21.15.1

    Marvin/JChem 21.15.1 used.

    Improvements

    • Diagnostic Tool can also identify Microsoft Office 365 installed on the computer.
    • A new option has been introduced in JChem for Excel that enables the smooth co-authoring functionality in Office 365 environments: it avoids the forced reopening of the workbook when a co-author edits a JChem Excel function.

    Deprecated Feature

    • The Copy and the Paste buttons have been removed from the JChem ribbon in JChem for Excel, however the same functionality is still available in the right-click context menu.

    Bug Fixes

    • Possible loss information dialog (which opens when double-clicking on a structure, which is not a JChem for Office structure object), opened multiple times in case of ISIS OLE objects with registry redirection to Marvin OLE objects.
    • Copying whole columns in Excel in all workflows resulted in an endless cycle and sometimes caused a crash.
    • We discovered an XXE vulnerability in several ChemAxon products, that has been fixed. Although JChem for Office is not affected, we strongly advise our customers to upgrade to the latest available version of ChemAxon products.
    • Database import failed on PostgreSQL tables or views if the entity name contained capital letter.
