Single columns can be selected either by a left-click or by a right-click on a column header. When you are selecting by right-clicking on a column header, the pop-up menu will open as well. The selected column will be highlighted by a dark grey header.
You can select multiple columns by holding down the CTRL key while clicking on column headers. Again, both left- and right-click can be used, but right-clicking will open the relevant contextual menu, too. When you have multiple columns selected and you open the search panel, each field belonging to the selected columns will be added to the search panel as a new query condition. Multiple column selection can be used for exporting only specific tables from a table, or for creating charts which require more than one field specified (such as scatter plots).
If you want to select a range of columns in a table, you can use the SHIFT modifier key: click on the first column header in the range, then hold down the SHIFT key and click on the last column header of the range you want to select. If you use a right-click in the last step, the pop-up menu will open as well, so you can send the selected columns on the search panel directly.
Single table cells can be selected by clicking on them either with a left-click or with a right-click. As a result, the cell will become active, i.e. , it can be edited directly after the click (but only in those cases when the cell's database field is editable, data editing is permitted by the business flags, and the user has a role which enables data editing), or the value in it can be copied to the clipboard with CTRL+C.
The active cell of a table is highlighted by a blue rectangle, and its position can be changed either by clicking on or navigating to a new cell with the arrow keys, or by changing the active row with the record chooser.
There is not any active cell in the table if you select one of the table columns or click out of the table area (either on another widget in the case of a form or on an inactive place).
When you click on a widget of a form view ( e.g. , text field, text area, molecule pane... widgets), the widget becomes selected and active as well. On one hand, this means that the database column which has been bound to that field is selected. On the other hand, in the case of widgets containing alphanumeric data or a chemical structure, the currently visible content of the widget can be copied to the clipboard with CTRL+C. The active widget is highlighted by a darker grey header and a blue rectangle around it value box.
Further widgets can be added to selection by holding down the CTRL key while clicking on the widgets. the selected widgets are highlighted by darker grey headers. Please note there is not any active widget on the form if more than one widget is selected. The active widget can be made inactive by clicking on an inactive part of the form.
Just like with table columns, you can either left-click or right-click on widgets in order to select them. However, if you select by right-clicking, beside the selection, the relevant pop-up menu will open as well.
Selecting table columns and widgets can be combined as well if a form view contains at least one table widget beside other types of widgets. If you hold down the CTRL key while click on column headers and widgets, each field will be added to the selection.
When the values of a database field are displayed on multiple widgets of the same form, selecting one of the widgets will automatically highlight the other widgets bound to the same field as well. For example
